Don't Panic!
17 January 08
As is usual in these situations, some people are stating to panic. Do not be panicked into selling your collection. No decision has been made with regard to legislation, there is no evidence that old specification weapons are a problem, or that legislation will make an iota of difference to gun crime. Or indeed what form the legislation, if any will take. If banning legal ownership of handguns only had the result in increasing gun crime how is legislating on deactivated and inoperable guns going to help?

Take action! Lobby your MP

The Home Secretary Jacqui Smith wants to tighten up the law regarding pre-1995 deactivated guns. This represents a potential threat to genuine, law-abiding collectors who have spent years and not insubstantial amounts of money building their collections.
If you want your voice to be heard contact your local MP by email. Their job is to represent their constituents interests. If they don’t know the strength of feeling they cannot fight your corner.

A letter to the Shadow Home Secretary
12 January 08
Here is a letter we have sent to the Shadow Home Secretary:
Dear Sir,
I was very pleased to read your comments regarding the Home Secretaries’ statement with respect of deactivated guns, We run a family business dealing in these, in fact, we are one of the largest, with 900 customers currently subscribing to our newsletter. I am not at all surprised to hear the tiny statistic showing how very few of these guns are ever used in anger, as our customers could attest.
